Sealing pavers is one of those jobs that looks simple from the driveway and gets complicated the moment you start reading labels. Water-based or solvent-based. Penetrating or film-forming. A paver sealer is not paint and it is not a repair. It is a protective layer that gets into the top of a porous surface and closes it off, so the things that normally soak in have a harder time doing it.
That is worth doing for most people, but it is worth being honest about what you get.

The most important line in that table is the last one on the right. A sealer locks in whatever is on the surface when you apply it. If the pavers are stained, sealing them does not clean them up; it preserves the stain under a protective layer. Clean first, always, and if there is a stain you cannot lift, decide whether you can live with it before you seal over it.
The other honest caveat is that sealing is not permanent. Sun, traffic, freeze and thaw, and cleaning all wear a sealer down, and eventually you reseal. How long that takes depends on how much sun and traffic the surface gets, which is why nobody can give you a number that actually applies to your patio. There is a simple test further down that tells you when the time has come.
Almost every product on the shelf is some combination of three decisions. Get these right and the rest is application technique.
Solvent-based sealers carry their resin in a chemical solvent that flashes off as the sealer dries. They have been around a long time and they bite hard into dense surfaces, but they bring strong fumes, they are not friendly to plants and pets while they are wet, and the runoff is not something you want in a garden bed.
Water-based sealers carry the same job on water instead. They are lower odour, far easier to clean up, and much kinder to the area around the work. For a home patio, driveway, or pool deck, where you are working next to lawn, planting beds, and whoever is using the yard, a water-based sealer is usually the more sensible choice.

"Wet look" is the term the whole industry uses for the last one, and it describes it well: a wet-look sealer gives permanently the deep, saturated colour that pavers only show for ten minutes after a shower.

Concrete pavers, brick pavers, and poured concrete. Use a sprayer, ideally with a fan tip for even coverage. These surfaces take the sealer readily and, with SuperSeal's two-coat method, finish glossy.
Travertine and natural stone. Use a roller and lay down a thin, even coat rather than spraying. Natural stone finishes to a natural satin rather than a gloss, which is usually what people want on travertine in the first place.
Concrete block, stucco, and manufactured stone. These are porous and thirsty, and vertical surfaces need a light hand so the sealer does not run. Expect to use more material than you would on the same area of dense poured concrete.

Can I apply paver sealer with a roller instead of a sprayer?
